Del Paisaje al Papel

This hands-on workshop explores how local plants and organic residues can be transformed into handmade paper. Using fibres from local vegetation, nearby industrial byproducts, invasive species growing in and around Barcelona, and pruning remains and urban garden waste from Barcelona, you will discover the process of turning raw plant matter into a new material. Throughout this 3.5-hour workshop, we will compare different fibres and observe their textures, colours, flexibility, and strength, giving new life to organic residues that often go unnoticed. You will also have the opportunity to add colour using plant-based inks and clays. Everyone will get to take their own handmade papers home with them at the end of the workshop!

No previous experience is needed, and we will provide all the necessary materials. If you would like to bring some fibres or flowers to add to your paper, you are very welcome to do so.

The workshop will be facilitated in Spanish, but we also speak English and Portuguese. We are happy to translate as needed!

Este taller práctico explora cómo plantas locales y residuos orgánicos pueden transformarse en papel hecho a mano. A partir de fibras de vegetación local, subproductos industriales de cercanía, especies invasoras que crecen en Barcelona y sus alrededores, y restos de poda y residuos de jardines urbanos de Barcelona, descubrirás el proceso de convertir materia vegetal en bruto en un nuevo material. A lo largo de este taller de 3,5 horas, compararemos distintas fibras y observaremos sus texturas, colores, flexibilidad y resistencia, dando una nueva vida a residuos orgánicos que muchas veces pasan desapercibidos. También tendrás la oportunidad de agregar color con tintas de base de plantas y arcillas. No se necesita experiencia previa y nosotros aportaremos todos los materiales necesarios. Si te apetece traer algunas fibras o flores que te gustaría añadir a tu papel, serás más que bienvenidx a hacerlo. Al final del taller, cada persona podrá llevarse a casa sus propios papeles hechos a mano. Facilitaremos el taller en castellano, pero también hablamos inglés y portugués! Estaremos encantados de traducir cuando haga falta.
