Del Residuo al Recurso: Transformando Residuos de Barcelona en Materiales para Diseño y Arquitectura

[EN] We invite you to a hands-on session to discover how local waste streams can be transformed into new possibilities for bio-based materials. This activity offers an introduction to the approach and some of the tools from the broader course we developed within the framework of the New European Bauhaus Academy. Guided by our From Waste to Resource card deck, we will explore a range of agricultural and industrial by-products from Barcelona and its surrounding region, and discuss the role of bio-based materials in creating healthier, more circular, and low-carbon environments.

During the workshop, you will be able to experiment with plant fibres, biodegradable binders, natural additives, pigments, finishes, and basic fabrication techniques. Through quick, hands-on tests, we will observe how these ingredients interact and what possibilities they offer for the development of new materials.

No previous experience is needed: we will provide all the materials required. And if you would like to bring along a waste material or ingredient of your own to experiment with, it will be very welcome.

This session is designed as a first point of entry. For those who would like to explore further, we will be offering longer workshops throughout 2026 focused on research, prototyping, and roadmap development. The workshop will be facilitated in Spanish. We also speak English and Portuguese!

Sobre este evento [ES] Te invitamos a una sesión práctica para descubrir cómo residuos locales pueden convertirse en nuevas posibilidades de materiales de base biológica. Esta actividad ofrece una introducción al enfoque y a algunas de las herramientas del curso más amplio que desarrollamos en el marco de la New European Bauhaus Academy. Guiada por nuestra baraja de cartas Del Residuo al Recurso, exploraremos de forma aplicada distintos subproductos agrícolas e industriales de Barcelona y de su entorno, y conversaremos sobre el papel de los materiales bio-basados en la creación de entornos más saludables, circulares y de baja huella de carbono.

Durante el taller, podrás experimentar con fibras vegetales, aglutinantes biodegradables, aditivos naturales, pigmentos, acabados y técnicas básicas de fabricación. A través de pruebas rápidas y prácticas, observaremos cómo interactúan estos ingredientes y qué posibilidades ofrecen para el desarrollo de nuevos materiales.

No hace falta tener experiencia previa: proporcionaremos todos los materiales necesarios. Y si te apetece traer un residuo o ingrediente propio para experimentar, será muy bienvenido.

Esta sesión está pensada como una primera puerta de entrada. Para quienes quieran seguir explorando, a lo largo de 2026 ofreceremos talleres de mayor duración centrados en investigación, prototipado y desarrollo de hojas de ruta. El taller será facilitado en castellano. También hablamos inglés y portugués.
